When you are composing an email, you would have seen these options below the “To” field. Most people are confused in using them in a proper way. If you are in corporate and you are not really sure about using them, you will get in to a big trouble. Let’s explore how they differ from each other.
Cc VS Bcc
|Stands for Carbon Copy.||Stands for Blind Carbon Copy.|
|To be used when the email is not actually Sent to, but you want to notify the person who is in Cc.||Used when you want secretly notify a person, without disclosing to your To and Cc receivers.|
|Other recipients in To, Cc & Bcc can see who are there in the Cc list.||Other recipients in To, Cc or Bcc can never see who all are there in Bcc list. If more than one Bcc receivers, the reciever can see only his email in the Bcc list.|
|Example scenario : If you are a team lead and you are told to send some instructions by your manager, you can send the instructions in email keeping all your team members in To and looping your manager in Cc. All the team members will come to know that your manager is also in the loop as Cc.||Example scenario : If you are a team member and you are mis guided by your team lead, you can email him/her keeping your manager in Bcc. In this case, your lead will come to know that the same is sent to manager too. Just a an example, need not to be a real scenario.|
Any person in To, Cc or Bcc list Clicks “Reply All” button in the email, the email will be sent to To & Cc ids only. It will not trigger email to Bcc receiver unless the email is specifically mentioned in Bcc list when replying.
